Kim Kardashian Shares Gun Control Message: Is She A Hypocrite?

Kim Kardashian takes a long, hard look at herself in the mirror each day, and she thinks that America needs to do the same thing. However, she’s not asking the country to highlight and contour — she wants Americans to look at how the lack of strict gun control laws is playing a part in ending lives and destroying families.

According to People, Kim Kardashian bravely decided to wade into the contentious gun control debate using her favorite soapbox: social media. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star began by begging her followers to read about the horrific murders of a family in Texas. As the Inquisitr previously reported, a man named David Conley confessed to shooting and killing six children, ex-girlfriend Valerie Jackson, and Jackson’s husband. Conley claimed that God told him to commit the murders because the kids were turning into monsters.

“Have u heard of the heart breaking story about David Conley who slaughtered his ex girlfriend & her entire family! Her 6 kids, husband & her!” Kim tweeted. “He purchased the gun & ammo ONLINE! How is it so easy to purchase guns online!!! Does this not sicken you? No background checks needed!!!!!”

According to reports, one of the six murdered children was Conley’s own son. Kim Kardashian seemed extremely shaken by the brutality of the senseless crime, and she continued her impassioned plea by trying to get her followers to imagine how horrific Valerie Jackson’s last living moments must have been.

This isn’t the first time Kim Kardashian has spoken out in favor of stricter gun control laws. According to the Mirror, she touched on the topic while giving a speech at San Francisco’s Commonwealth Club back in July.

“I’m not the type to have them in my house — the security at the front of my house might but not in my house,” Kim said. “I truly honestly believe we don’t have strict enough gun control laws and it would change a lot.”

However, Kim is comfortable handling guns and posting photos of firearms that she finds pretty. In 2013, she faced a backlash from her fans after she shared a picture of a diamond-encrusted handgun on Instagram. ABC News reported that she quickly deleted the photo, but too many of her millions of Instagram followers had already seen the fancy $10,000 weapon. One of Kim’s fans criticized her for treating a deadly weapon like “a fun accessory.”

According to Gossip Cop, Kim Kardashian visited a gun range during a 2007 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and she seemed to have a great time — she said that handling a firearm made her feel “like G.I. Jane.” She also went shooting with bestie Jonathan Cheban in 2012, and she happily showed off her handiwork on Instagram.

Do you think Kim Kardashian is being a hypocrite by speaking out in favor of strict gun control laws when she has a habit of treating the weapons like toys?
