After months and years of waiting and sifting through rumors, Disney has now confirmed that Star Wars Land will indeed be a reality. At the D23 Expo on Saturday, Disney head Bob Iger took to the stage at the close of the live-action movies panel and made the big reveal for the new expansion coming to Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World.

Over in Disneyland, there will be a new Star Wars Land expansion that is 14 acres. This goes right along with the 14 acres of land that Disney just purchased near its original park in Anaheim, California.
At Walt Disney World, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get the Star Wars Land expansion. There has been no word yet on exactly where it will go, but the park has been doing a lot of closings in the past year and making way for something big.
Not a whole lot was revealed by Iger just yet as the Disney Parks and Resorts panel will reveal more. It is set to happen later in the day at the D23 Expo on Saturday, so much more should be known by the time the night is over.
A few things that are known is that there will be a Millennium Falcon attraction in which guests will take the controls. Those riding the attraction will on a “secret mission” to possibly save the galaxy.
This is the news that so many have been waiting for, and it finally came. It’s been rumored for a long time, especially since Disney purchased Lucasfilm a few years ago. Star Wars Land has been a rumor in the making, and now it will become a reality.
There is no telling exactly how much land it will encompass at Disney’s Hollywood studios. There is already a Star Tours attraction and a merchandise location, but that is all. Every year, the park gets thousands upon thousands of extra visitors in May and June for its annual Star Wars Weekends.
Bob Iger knew that announcing Star Wars Land for Disneyland and Walt Disney World would only get fans that much more excited for the Parks and Resorts presentation. The D23 Expo 2015 has already revealed so much information, but there is a lot more to come as it is far from over.
