Jessa Duggar Dressing Sexier? Pregnant ’19 Kids’ Star Accused Of Ditching Modest Style [Photos]

It looks like Jessa Duggar has relaxed her dress code now that she’s no longer on TV. The former 19 Kids and Counting star is being accused of dressing less modestly that she used to, and Jessa recently admitted to showing off a body part that the Duggars never put on display.

According to Us Weekly, Jessa Duggar proudly pointed out her bulging belly button in a recent Instagram post. However, the pregnant 22-year-old didn’t pull a Kim Kardashian by stripping naked and revealing her bare belly — Jessa’s navel is currently sticking out so much that it’s still visible whenever she wears a tight top. Jessa poked fun at her extra belly bulge by comparing it to a handy little kitchen gadget.

“Lol!…that point in your pregnancy where your belly button is acting like a pop-up turkey timer!” Jessa captioned the photo below.

The Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray Facebook page points out that Jessa has seemingly thrown one of her family’s strict modesty rules out the window now that she has a baby bump to show off. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar created a dress code for their family that included a rule against wearing clothing that is too tight. However, nowadays Jessa is wearing tight tops in most of her Instagram photos.

“I’m not trying to body shame her or anything but why is it when the Duggar girls are pregnant that nipples and bellybuttons are okay to show off?” the photo below was captioned. “What Jessa is wearing on the right would cause J. Bob to keel over dead if she wasn’t pregnant. Why is it okay when she is pregnant?”

According to Cosmopolitan, the Duggar girls wrote about their “modern modest” style in their book, Growing Up Duggar. Jessa and her sisters revealed that they’re so concerned about keeping their bodies covered up that they often wear undershirts to make sure that there’s no “defrauding” going on.

“We realize that our body is a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband… We avoid low-cut, cleavage-showing, gaping, or bare-shouldered tops; and when needed, we wear an undershirt. We try to make it a habit to always cover the top of our shirt with our hand when we bend over. We don’t want to play the peekaboo game with our neckline.”

During an interview with Popsugar, Michelle Duggar explained how she came to the conclusion that the modern modest look was a must if she wanted to save her mortal soul. The former reality show star revealed that she actually used to mow the lawn in a bikini when she was a teen, but after she adopted the strict religious views that Jessa and her sisters were trained to believe in, Michelle started thinking about the effect that her bikini was having on her “neighbor’s husband across the street.”

“No wonder the woman hated our family — you know? And, I think I had no clue as far as the responsibility I had in that the way I dressed caused men to have struggles. They (the girls) want to dress modest to draw attention to their face and not the other parts of their bodies that seem to be uncovered nowadays.”

Jessa Duggar’s tight shirts are certainly drawing the attention away from her face, but maybe Duggar watchers shouldn’t be surprised that the sassy star has decided to sex up her style a bit. According to the Duggar Family Blog, Jessa once pointed out that the frumpy clothing her mother used to pick out for the Duggar kids was so old fashioned that it looked “like it could have come off Noah’s Ark.” This also isn’t the first time Jessa has defied the Duggar dress code. As the Inquisitr previously reported, she’s actually been seen sporting pants, and she’s even gone swimming in a pair of boyish shorts.

In a TLC blog post, Michelle explained that the Duggars don’t think women should wear pants or shorts because they’re not feminine enough. According to Michelle, she feels like she’s defining herself “as a woman by choosing to wear dresses and skirts.” However, she believes that all skirts and dresses should cover the knees — women who don’t cover up enough risk “defrauding” men by “stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled.”

Most of the Duggar family’s dress code is focused on the girls, so it would be interesting to hear Michelle’s thoughts on Ben Seewald’s recent style decision. Jessa shared the photo below that shows her husband showing off his shapely ankles.
