One Direction Contests Include Warnings, Fan Interviews

One Direction’s North American On the Road Again tour is in its final 30 days, but there are still a few surprises left from sources other than their sponsor — Honda.

Speaking of One Direction fans and contests, Billboard’s Fan Army Face Off had 1D fans in full-on online battle mode. Social media was blistering after One Direction fans let the world have a piece of their mind, and Hollywood Take stated the following on August 13.

“Even the hashtag #WeLove1dAndKpop quickly turned into a stream of nasty insults. As the name implies, the Billboard competition determines via fan vote which music superstar has the strongest fan army. The contest is in bracket form, and One Direction’s Directioners faced off against T-ara’s Queens in the semifinals.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there have been hints from Honda about surprises that would be unleashed on the One Direction tour. Some of these surprises have been in the form of discounted tickets for One Direction concerts, but others have been specifically focused on prizes.

Now that the tour is winding down, One Direction fans will still find that there are contests out there for them to participate in. Despite the fact that there was one bad incident where a One Direction dad ended up with a 1D tattoo (and no tickets), most of the American One Direction contests simply need basic information submitted — and nothing else is required.

Besides random lottery contests for winning One Direction tickets that are often sponsored by local radio stations, there is one contest that will result in interviewing One Direction fans.

The Journal Sentinel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reported the following about the One Direction concert (that will happen on August 25) on August 7.

“Do you want to be interviewed for a feature story in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel? We may even put your picture online and in the paper. We’re planning a feature story on One Direction’s most-dedicated Milwaukee fans — and their parents — for August 21.”

Although most One Direction contests are harmless, fans should keep in mind that not all One Direction contests or competitions are authorized.

A good example was recently highlighted by Torrent Freak. On July 19, it was reported that Sony says “One Direction remix comp entry is copyright infringing.” As a warning, they also remind One Direction fans about not participating in contests that One Direction offers because of the complications it can bring from SoundCloud or Sony and state the following.

“Finally, it’s worth noting that the original One Direction stems uploaded for the competition are still being offered on SoundCloud for people to remix. However, those tempted to do so should be warned, since re-uploading finished tracks back to SoundCloud risks a potential infringement strike against their account.”

Along with the One Direction contests for tickets in the cities the band will be touring in August and September, Honda’s 1D Sweepstakes is offering a trip to London to see One Direction this fall, a Honda Civic car decorated by 1D, and a trip to see their final North American concert in Boston on September 12.
