Justin Bieber And Kehlani Come Together On Khalil’s Ultra Mellow ‘Future’ [New Song]

Remember those Justin Bieber and Kehlani new song snippets that we first heard in May? As it turns out, the lead artist is actually Bieber’s pal Khalil on a track titled “Future.”

According to HotNewHipHop, Khalil is gearing up to drop a new EP later this year called Long Way From 916, and the just over two minutes song which arrived Friday is his jam featuring Kehlani and Justin Bieber.

Co-produced by Rex Kudo and Charlie Handsome, “Future” is a softly pulsing R&B song that allows each artist space to shine then weaves the vocals of its two biggest stars.

Listen to the Khalil “Future Ft. Kehlani & Justin Bieber” below.

Khalil kicks off, singing, “Such a great future / Oh, baby we’ll see what the future holds for us oh no,” over a looped acoustic guitar, before the Biebs ushers in the first verse on the drop.

“When it’s raining it’s pouring / How do I always end up the enemy? / How do I wake up in the morning? / When you’re not right next to me / How could we throw it all away / Guess I’ll move on to better days,” the heartthrob croons about a breakup and the possibility of a brighter tomorrow.

Things get a tad more optimistic on the chorus as Justin muses, “Maybe there’s a future / Such a great future / See what the future holds / Maybe, yes, next time / What if there’s no next time / I don’t know what future knows / Future x4 / Live in the moment/ You will enjoy it.”

Kehlani then laments, “When our love has been broken / We can barely even speak / One minute was so rare/ the next we’re knocked right off our feet /How did we throw it all away/ Guess we’ll move on to better days.”

At this point, the Bay Area songstress and Canadian superstar intertwine over the chorus with a little help from Khalil at the end, before the brief vamp out over the title.

Online chatter reveals plenty of appreciation for the ultra mellow collaboration.

Justin worked with “Time For Bed” singer Khalil on his A Long Story Short mixtape. As yet, it’s not clear how the Justin Bieber, Kehlani, Khalil trinity came together, but we’re certainly glad it did.
