Florida Triple Homicide: Illegal Immigrant, 19, Accused Of Brutally Murdering Aunt, Pregnant Teen Cousin, And Her Boyfriend

Brian Hyde, 19, of Belize, who entered the United States illegally, is facing three second-degree murder charges after Florida police discovered three bodies inside of a Lehigh Acres home where he was staying, according to NBC2.

Just before 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dorrien Pitts of Lehigh Acres, Florida, was on the phone with his wife, Dorla, when he heard her scream, “Brian! What happened here? What happened?” as she entered her home at 3500 block of 21st Street SW. Seconds later the phone went silent.

The eerie silence concerned Dorrien and he immediately contacted his childhood friend who was in the area to check on her. When the man arrived at the home and opened the door, he discovered the bodies of 37-year-old Dorla, her 17-year-old daughter Starlett Pitts — who was six months pregnant, and the girls’ boyfriend, Michael Kelly, Jr., 19.

A one-year-old girl was also discovered in the bedroom of the home, but was unharmed. She is believed to be the daughter of the Lehigh Senior High School students Starlett and Michael who were brutally murdered in the adjacent room, according to NBC News. Lee County police was immediately called to the “extremely violent and bloody crime scene” and concluded that all three victims appeared to have been stabbed to death.

Investigators linked Hyde to the murders after he was later pulled over for driving on the wrong side of the road in a white Range Rover that was “registered to the same address as the crime scene.” When police approached the vehicle they noticed the illegal immigrant had blood on his shoes and pants; blood was also spotted inside of the car. He was arrested for driving without a license, but when his fingerprints matched the one at the bloody crime scene, he was charged with three counts of second-degree murder.

The young teen was originally from Belize and had entered the United States illegally about seven months ago by crossing the Texas border. Soon after, he began living at his aunt’s home in Lehigh Acres. However, things took a turn for the worst when he stabbed the trio to death with a sharp object. Sources say evidence show that all three victims tried to defend themselves during the vicious attack.

Lee County police officials has since launched an investigation, aiming to uncover what led up to the brutal murders.

“My grandbaby, she’s here. She don’t have no momma, she don’t have no daddy. It’s just so sad, she’s only one years old. She was in the house, she don’t know what was going on. Ain’t no telling how long she was in there, crying, seeing her mommy and daddy laying there. Ain’t no telling,” said Michael’s mother Sherri Flemming.

Brian Hyde appeared in court on Friday where the judge informed him that he will be held without bond. He will also remain at the Lee County jail until his arraignment on September 23.
