Ronda Rousey Vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fight: UFC Champion Says She Could Beat Boxer In Ring Without Rules

Ronda Rousey vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one fight that fans of sport fighting are craving. The UFC champion claims she would have an advantage if they met in a ring without rules.

The rivalry began when Rousey was voted Best Fighter at the 2015 ESPY Awards, beating out Mayweather. The boxing champion, who had just maintained his status by taking out Manny Pacquaio in a much-anticipated event, had thrown what may have been an unintentional barb. He had said of Ronda, “I don’t even know who he is,” indicating he hadn’t even known she was a woman.

Rousey had countered by poking fun at Floyd’s criminal history and penchant for domestic violence.

“I wonder how Floyd feels being beaten by a woman for once.”

According to Mercury News, fans and even mixed martial arts competitors are waiting for the two to actually meet in the ring and see who ends up on top. A Ronda Rousey vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. match has been discounted by both parties, though Rousey has mused she would win.

Rousey rival Meisha Tate has stated that Floyd would be too used to the rules of boxing to beat the UFC champion.

“Floyd is a great, great boxer, but boxers meet in the center and agree to box. When you take that away and someone rushes in and the ref doesn’t break up the clinch for you, and you don’t know how to wrestler or stop a throw – I’m sorry, he’s going down.”

Once on the ground, Meisha Tate said that Mayweather would be powerless because “from there, she would arm bar the hell out of him.”

Some have said that the Ronda Rousey vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. match would never happen because it would be a fight between a man and a woman, something today’s society considers wrong. Others such as MMA fighters would love to see it happen because it would bring sports like MMA into the spotlight and get them taken more seriously.

Ronda even joked once that it probably wouldn’t happen, once again poking fun at Mayweather’s history of domestic violence, “I don’t think that me and him would ever fight – unless we ended up dating.”

Floyd also said once that it would be “silly” to put an MMA fighter in the ring with a boxer.

What do you think? Would a Ronda Rousey vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. match be worth the risk, or would those in charge ever let it ever happen?
