‘Batman V Superman’ News: Henry Cavill Reveals The One Thing That Can Beat Superman, And It’s Not Kryptonite

Henry Cavill is currently doing the rounds promoting The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which means that he’s constantly being peppered with questions about Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. And during one of these discussions he’s revealed the only thing that can defeat Superman is Superman himself.

Cavill, who is reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, following his debut as the character in Man Of Steel, made these remarks to The Guardian. After being quizzed about the character, the English thespian explained.

“He’s a complex dude. People think Kryptonite can beat him. No. The only thing that can really beat Superman is Superman.

“His own noggin messing with him. His own moral choices. When you have to start with, the storytelling can really delve into something rich.”

Cavill, who made his name in Woody Allen’s Whatever Works and The Tudors before he was cast as Superman by Zack Snyder, then came up with a rather unique, and crude, analogy for how he has come to terms, and become more comfortable, with playing the superhero.

“It’s like shagging someone for the first time. Sometimes it turns out to be amazing. Mostly you’re trying to get each other’s rhythm going. It’s on the next go that you start to expand. That’s why I do it. That and the money.”

Cavill couldn’t help but wax lyrical about how he adores playing Superman, admitting that he could do for years, something that he’s actually going to do because he’s contractually obliged to appear in the upcoming Justice League films.

“It’s a wonderful role,” Cavill declared. “There’s a huge potential there for complex storytelling, and I’m looking forward to exploring those avenues. Come on, it’s Superman! You can’t be p***** off at the idea of playing Superman for the rest of your life.”

Cavill also admitted that where there is obviously a “blessing in being Superman” because “you get more attention, there is also a curse as he has to live up to the expectation of maintaining the physique of the character, and having a good public image.

We’ll get our next glimpse of Henry Cavill as Superman when he goes up against Ben Affleck’s Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which is due out on March 25, 2016. It also stars Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane
