It’s only been 24 hours since Modern Family actress Ariel Winter told her story about getting breast reduction surgery, but already the star is receiving support from her fans.
Ariel is now thanking fans for their support after her story went public in Glamour magazine. In an Instagram post, Winter thanked all involved.
“Thank you so much @glamourmag and @JRadloff. I feel so blessed that you gave me a chance to share my story. I am extremely humbled. Jessica you are amazing!!!! To my fans, you guys have all been so supportive and I couldn’t thank y’all more. You are all amazing human beings and I’m honored to have you. HUGE thanks go to the people who support me, love me, and take care of me in every way possible.”
She continued thanking her family for their support.
“To my incredible sister @shanelle_gray, her husband @davidbarrygray, my beautiful baby nieces, the love of my life @laurent_claude_gaudette and our furry babies Casper and Rocco, my father Glenn Workman, and my best friends @jessiebergg, @huntershocket, @ohmyskyy, and @music4joejoe who have been by my side through everything, THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! I love you all more than anything. I don’t know what I’d do without you guys.”
The Modern Family star, 17, opened up about her surgery, going from a 32F to a size 34D. The star said there were plenty of reasons behind her surgery, including back pain and bullying that she received as well. She also struggled with trying to find clothing that would give her proper coverage. Bathing suits were a huge problem for her, as it was hard for her to not come off as suggestive because of her excessive cleavage.
Bullying was a big reason behind her reduction surgery, with her pointing to the media’s headlines about her cleavage being “out of control” and “Ariel once again rocks crazy cleavage!” Instead of the focus being on her body of work, it was on her body, and Winter was not okay with that.
She shared to Page Six the huge problem that posed for her.
“We live in a day and age where everything you do is so ridiculed,” Winter explained. “As women in the industry, we are totally oversexualized and treated like objects. Every article that has to do with me on a red carpet has to do with ‘Ariel Winter’s Crazy Cleavage!’ or ‘Ariel Winter Shows Huge Boobs at an Event!’ And that’s all people would recognize me by.”
