Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton Return To ‘The Voice’ Following Divorce Announcements

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton will have each other to lean on during the upcoming season of The Voice.

Both longtime coaches of the singing competition recently announced their divorces from their significant others, and have thrown themselves into their work ever since.

The “Wind it Up” singer filed for divorce from her husband, Gavin Rossdale, in a Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, August 3, citing irreconcilable differences. Stefani, 45, and Rossdale, 49, were married for nearly 13 years, according to People Magazine, and share three children together — Kingston, 9, Zuma, who will turn 7 this month, and Apollo, 17 months.

“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the couple said in a joint statement. “To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time.”

Since their announcement, Stefani has returned to her big red chair on the set of The Voice to film the ninth season alongside her costars Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams. Not only is she returning to work, she is making sure her sole focus is her children.

“She has been busy and focusing on work,” a source close to the No Doubt singer said. “Knowing how she is as a mom, her top priority is making sure her kids feel secure and comforted during the process,” another source told People.

Last month, country music superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert announced their divorce, noting that this was not the future they had envisioned.

“And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” the celebrity couple said in a statement, according to the New York Daily News. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

With both singers sharing similar experiences with their failing marriages, it is likely that they will turn to each other for support.

An eyewitness told Us Weekly that Gwen “seemed sad” on set, while Blake seemed to have already moved on. The witness also said that neither coach was wearing their rings.

The coaches are already working on filming the blind auditions for Season 9. The Voice will be returning on September 21.
