Fireman Raped 9-Year-Old After Rescuing Her From Fire

John McGinn, 56, worked as a firefighter in the North Lanarkshire area for 30 years. In January 1994, he rescued a mother and her 9-year-old daughter from a blaze at their home. The mother suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital. The girl was taken to her grandmother’s house. While there, McGinn pretended to play a game called King of the Castle with the girl. But instead of playing with the young girl, he pulled her on top of him and raped her. The girl, out of fear, did not reveal what happened for two decades. At the time, he threatened to kill her mother if she told anyone. The victim is now 30 and stated the following, according to the Daily Mail.

“I told him to stop. He said if I told anyone he would kill my mother.”

Unfortunately, people usually can trust and look up to such lifesavers. McGinn, however, was also found guilty of other horrific charges. He was also found to have raped and abused his partner, who was a teenager at the time, and made her “feel like a piece of garbage.” His partner claimed she consented to have sex with him only two times but was repeatedly raped by him. She also stated that she had been tied to a bed and raped. And one time she broke free with a knife to defend herself, but couldn’t catch McGinn, who fled. She also said that he threatened to put petrol in the light bulbs so that they would explode, according to Metro.

McGinn was also found to have abused another young girl sexually, giving her sweets and juice so that she would remain quiet, according to the Independent.

Now retired, McGinn collects a pension from his work as a firefighter. He claims that the 30-year-old is lying about being raped and that she was blackmailing him so that she would get money from his pension. McGinn stated the following according to the Daily Mail.

“It’s a downright lie – it did not happen. No chance. For her to come out with that is ridiculous… I would rather put a bullet in my own head than be a paedophile. Hanging is too good for a paedophile.”

Judge Lord Bonomy told McGinn the following.

“You have been found guilty of a monstrous catalogue of physical and sexual abuse of a woman and two young children. There is no explanation that could excuse what the jury has found you guilty of. The sentence will inevitably be a lengthy prison sentence.”

Firefighters, police, and teachers are usually trusted authority figures. In another case, a trusted figure of a teacher was indicted by a grand jury of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, according to an article by the Inquisitr.
