‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer: New Footage Revealed In First TV Spot! [VIDEO]

A Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer revealing new footage from the soon-to-be released, long anticipated addition to the Star Wars dynasty came out today. South Korea became the first international audience to be blessed with the TV spot, but thanks to the internet, Star Wars fans worldwide can relish in the new footage.

The quick thirty second South Korean TV spot mostly features footage seen in previously released Star Wars trailers, but true Star Wars fans will notice some new images. Don’t worry, English speaking Star Wars fans. The audio is in English while the subtitles are in Korean.

Watch it here.

In case you missed it, that’s footage of a new army of Stormtroopers, the minions of the dark side in Star Wars land.

South Korean Star Wars fans weren’t blessed with the nostalgia of Luke Skywalker’s voice or Han Solo’s appearance like previous trailers and the new footage, while sure to delight Star Wars fans everywhere, does little to reveal the plot, which has been kept tightly under wraps by director JJ Abrams.

The latest Star Wars flick is said to be set thirty years after what transpired in Return of the Jedi. Original Star Wars cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, along with ever-recurring Star Wars alums Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker, are said to be reprising their roles for the film.

Star Wars fans were thrilled with the announcement of Star Wars: The Force Awakens with the hope that it would rejuvenate the series and redeem previous attempts, most notably 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace, which was met with mixed reviews. While some were convinced that the loss of George Lucas as director would mean a devastating blow for the Star Wars empire, others were excited at the prospect of renowned director JJ Abrams taking the reins. Thus far, hype over what little footage has been released has been positive.

While actual movie details of the new Star Wars has been scarce, just last week, Toys ‘R’ Us had an “oops” moment when they revealed the toy line associated with The Force Awakens, sending Star Wars fans into a frenzy of speculation over what was to come.

Don’t worry Star Wars fans. We won’t have to guess much longer. Just like Christmas, Star Wars is that much closer… a mere eighteen and a half weeks away. Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18.
