‘Halo 5’ Limited Edition Controllers Come With DLC, Available To Pre-Order

After the announcement for a limited edition Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One console, as is often the tradition for limited edition consoles, many gamers hope for an additional announcement indicating the limited edition controller will be sold separately. Microsoft is answering the call and showing Halo fans a little extra love by delivering not one but two limited edition Halo 5: Guardians wireless controllers. Although the controllers are not scheduled to hit stores until October 2015, pre-orders have recently opened at participating retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and the official Microsoft Store.

The two distinctive limited edition Xbox One wireless controller designs pay homage to the Agent Locke vs. Master Chief story element of Halo 5: Guardians. The limited edition Halo 5: Guardians controller matches the limited edition Xbox One console with its laser-etched designs inspired by Spartan Locke and UNSC technology in dramatic, metallic blue and gray. On the other hand, the limited edition Master Chief controller features the traditional military green with metallic orange accent buttons. Both controllers are sold at an estimated retail price of $69.99 USD — about $10 more than a standard Xbox One controller and considerably less than the professional-grade $149.99 Elite Wireless controller that will also hit store shelves this October.

As an additional perk with purchase, each limited edition controller also comes with some bonus Halo 5 DLC in the form of a special in-game REQ Pack. The Halo 5: Guardians controller REQ Pack includes a Resolute visor, while the Master Chief controller REQ Pack comes with a Dauntless visor.

Fans looking for a headset to match the limited edition console can also snap up the limited edition A40 + MixAmp M80 from Astro Gaming.

The officially licensed headset is no cheap imitation at a suggested retail price of $220 USD. Per the official Astro Blog, ensuring the headset would compliment the Halo 5 limited edition console and controller has been taken seriously by the peripheral designer.

“We worked hand-in-hand with 343 Industries & Microsoft Studios to precisely match and blend the design palette of the Halo 5: Guardians Xbox One console and controller with our A40 + MixAmp M80 to bring you a one of a kind next gen experience.”

Pre-orders have opened in anticipation of the October 2015 launch for the A40 + MixAmp M80, as well. Purchasing the headset will also come with its own Halo 5 REQ Pack. Is this the best set of Halo gear yet? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
