‘A Family’s Dark Secret’ Debunked: A Duggar Family Lifetime Movie Is Not In The Works

Duggar fans are expressing their disgust after a publication reported that the Lifetime Movie Network would start filming a docudrama called A Family’s Dark Secret in August that would tell the story of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their struggle to cope with their eldest son Josh as he began molesting his sisters. Fortunately for Duggar fans, the report was simply satire and there is no Lifetime movie in the works based on the Josh Duggar molestation scandal.

The story originated from a post in the National Report which indicated that filming would begin for A Family’s Dark Secret sometime in August. The publication claimed that Lifetime Movie Network had confirmed the filming and that Vancouver-based Hide ‘N’ Seek Films and L.A.-based Locked Door Entertainment would be leading the project.

“‘A Family’s Dark Secret’ will begin shooting in August and will focus on the parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, as they struggle to come to terms with their son’s insatiable appetite for child molestation and the great lengths taken in covering it up.”

The report went on to say that Lifetime promised to use the “utmost sensitivity” towards victims during the filming but that some “hard truths” needed to be portrayed for accuracy. Duggar fans were not happy with those promises and called the film a disgrace and vowed to blacklist Lifetime for even considering such a distasteful film project.

Fortunately for Duggar fans, The National Report is satire website that often is mistaken for a standard news website. The disclaimer on the National Report notes that the website writes satire and fiction and that “any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental.”

“National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news. Any resemblance to the truth is purely coincidental. Advice given is NOT to be construed as professional. If you are in need of professional help, please consult a professional. National Report is not intended for children under the age of 18.”

Additionally, if you google “Hide ‘N’ Seek Films” and “Locked Door Entertainment” you will discover that the companies do not exist. Therefore, we can safely assume that no Duggar docudrama called A Family’s Dark Secret is in the works regarding the Duggar family.

Though the Duggar family is not going to be featured in a Lifetime docudrama, some members of the Duggar family have been expanding their presence on social media and on YouTube to give fans a glimpse of their lives now that cameras aren’t rolling.

Did you fall for the National Report indicating that a Duggar docudrama was in the works with Lifetime Movie Network?
