Emma Watson: Silence Vow Taken By Star, Why Did She Do It?

Emma Watson’s vow of silence lasted for a week. Why was silence something that Watson wanted to do? The silence was a way for her to cope with the end of her relationship with Matt Janey. It turns out that Watson started her vow of silence even before her relationship ended, according to dbTechno.

“Even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself.”

In order to make her vow of silence official, Emma went to a private place in Canada where they have a rule in place that requires silence for one week by everyone who stays there. Being in a place where silence is required by everyone sounds pretty creepy.

Matt Janey and Watson ended their relationship in December of 2014. According to Watson, the split was “horrendous.” The split between the two has not soured Watson from dating though. She says that her past relationships have been good.

“The boyfriends or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished. They’ve built me up. I certainly haven’t found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I’ve struggled in my love life.”

Watson spoke with Vogue about if other guys found it hard to be in a relationship with her due to her being an actress.

“I certainly haven’t found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I’ve struggled in my love life. I just think it’s very patronizing towards men. It undermines them.”

Watson is now embracing her role as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. She was given that title in July of 2014. A couple months later she gave an amazing speech and proved that she will be a great ambassador.

“Part of me relaxed after I took on that position, it gave me a sense of belonging and purpose. Everything clicked in to place, in a way that it hadn’t before. I understood what I’m here to do and knew where to channel all this energy that has been coming at me. I now feel this sense of peace. People say that I’m different since I did it.”

So what is next now that the silence has been broken for Watson? The Hollywood star is filming Beauty and the Beast. It is scheduled for release in 2017.
