New York Mother Charged With Murder After Confessing To Throwing 3-Week-Old Baby From Fourth-Floor Apartment Because Evil Spirits Told Her To

A newborn baby in Queens, New York, was thrown to his death from the fourth floor of an apartment window on Friday, according to the New York Daily News. The mother of the infant was immediately taken to a psychiatric unit following the incident, while his father was later taken into the county jail for questioning.

Sources say that 20-year-old neighbor Mazol Ilyayeva told investigators that she was startled by a loud thud outside of her apartment at Richmond Hill Apartments at 4:10 a.m. that sounded like a stack of books hitting the pavement. Curious to uncover the cause of the loud noise, Ilyayeva went outside and discovered the horrifying truth.

Three-week-old Ahmad Ridwan lay dead on the ground in a pool of blood, dressed in his blue and white onesie. When the neighbor called 911, they suggested CPR, but that wouldn’t have saved the child, as the medical examiner said he died instantly from “blunt impact of head and torso with skull fractures and lacerations of the liver, brain and spleen.”

“I couldn’t move,” said Ilyayeva. “I couldn’t scream. There was blood everywhere.”

Apparently, the newborn found dead was thrown from the fourth story while his 21-year-old mother (Rashida Chowdhury), father, and several other adults and children were in the home, according to the Daily Mirror.

“The mom was holding the husband,” Ilyayeva said about the newborn’s parents while police officials were investigating the courtyard scene. “Their faces were blank.”

Initially, New York police officials believed that one of the children in the home was holding the newborn baby and accidently dropped the baby out of the window. But when the baby’s mother was taken to a psychiatric hospital, she later confessed that she tossed her baby boy out of the window because an evil spirit told her to do it.

Chowdhury was immediately arrested for the murder of her newborn baby, and although Ahmad’s father – whose name has not been released — was taken into custody for questioning, he is not facing any charges.

“This a truly horrific and disturbing case of a mother accused of killing her helpless infant son,” said Attorney Richard Brown. “He fell more than 40 feet to the pavement and died. The alleged actions of the defendant are totally incomprehensible.”

Neighbors were shocked to learn that the young mother would execute such a heinous crime, but they stated that “The mom wouldn’t do this unless she was sick in the head.”

Rashida Chowdhury was charged with two counts of murder: “intentional murder and murder of a victim under the age of 11,” following the tossing death of her infant son. If she is convicted of the crime, she could face up to life in prison.

She is currently being held at the county jail.
