As it appears, Lil Wayne’s Lil Weezyana festival is still going to happen despite no obvious updates on Lil Wayne’s social media accounts.
Lil Wayne has been busy with his new #FWA (aka Free Weezy Album) released on Tidal on July 4 along with an ongoing club tour. However, Lil Wayne is also planning to return to his hometown of New Orleans on August 28 with his own festival — and a possible reuniting with the Hot Boys.
Over the past months, the fires of the Birdman and Cash Money drama continue to burn for Lil Wayne, and it has definitely appeared to take its toll.
Regardless, around July 7, NOLA stated that Lil Wayne announced to DJ Wild Wayne at Q93.3 FM that he was going to be bringing a concert to New Orleans, and the details would be announced in the future.
In addition to other TBA musical acts, Lil Wayne stated in early July that one of the purposes of Lil Weezyana Fest was to donate part of the ticket sales back to the city of New Orleans.
A month later, a few updates have appeared in relation to the Lil Wayne New Orleans festival.
For instance, NOLA posted an update on July 29, stating, “Wayne, Turk and Juvenile will reunite as the Hot Boys, the platinum-selling late-’90s Cash Money Records group whose fourth member, B.G. is currently in prison. More guests, Wayne said, will be added to the bill.”
NOLA adds, “After the early-ish show, Fresh and the Hot Boys will join DJ Spin and Young Money’s DJ T. Lewis, plus comedian Rude Jude, at Harrah’s Masquerade for an after-party that kicks off at 10:30 p.m. B.G. is included, along with the other Hot Boys and DJ Mannie Fresh, in a very cool cartoon depiction of the group that is the after-party’s official poster.”
For Lil Wayne fans who cannot make it to the Lil Weezyana Fest, All Hip Hop alleges that it will be streaming live on Tidal and quote Lil Wayne as saying the following.
“I’ve connected with my fans in such a cool way with the help of Tidal, and with this Tidal X I can’t wait to bring them another experience… Lil Weezyana Fest is so special to me and I’m excited to share it with fans in New Orleans and online.”
Unlike other Lil Wayne shows, the ticket sales for Lil Weezyana Fest are fairly inexpensive. Pre-ordering tickets from Eventbrite or Ticketmaster before the Lil Wayne festival are $20 for general admission and $40 for V.I.P.
The official name of the event is “Morris Bart Presents Lil WeezyAna Fest: Lil Wayne and Friends,” and it will be associated with Bold Sphere Music at Champions Square in New Orleans.
