Katie Holmes cuts her hair and sets off a new trend in summer bobs. That’s the prediction from some celebrity fashion watchers who are approving Katie’s daring debut of her beautifully short, naturally curly cut, reported MSN.
Holmes didn’t just decide to cut her hair on a whim, however. Tom Cruise’s ex-wife is immersed in acting and directing in a challenging new film.
Katie’s new movie, All We Had, tells the story of a 13-year-old girl and her mom who are struggling to survive without sufficient income. Holmes apparently decided that by cutting her hair, she could portray that struggle more authentically.
But will Katie keep her hair cut short? Holmes previously waxed poetic about her passion for ponytails.
“I like the versatility of long hair,” admitted Katie. “I like being able to put it into a ponytail. I’m a ponytail girl.”
Holmes regards caring for her hair to be just as important as caring for her body.
“It’s no different than how you treat your body. If you want to be able to work at the highest level then you better be good to yourself. You’ve got to take care of it on a daily basis,” said Katie.
In addition to Holmes’ new hair cut, she also is displaying a very unexpected dental problem for her new film, reported People.
To play the role realistically, Katie is sporting a blackened tooth, resulting in a gap-toothed grin. Added to Holmes’ decision to cut her hair, it’s clear that she wants to show what it’s like to look and feel impoverished.
But even as Katie takes new risks in her life, from hair cuts to directing, Holmes’ past experiences with ex-husband Tom Cruise are emerging, reported Redbook.
Alex Gibney’s Scientology documentary Going Clear seemed to eliminate Katie Holmes’ role in Cruise’s life. However, it is known that Katie sought to have sole custody of Suri and that Holmes was so worried about getting away that she bought a disposable cell phone.
Katie then used that phone to contact attorneys in different states so that Tom was not aware that she was planning to divorce him. Holmes also reportedly made the decision to divorce Cruise because she was worried that he would send their daughter to Sea Org, which led to her decision to rent an apartment in New York to protect Suri.
As the Inquisitr reported, Cruise banned questions about topics ranging from Scientology to his love life as he promotes his newest Mission Impossible film.
