Valerie Bertinelli is ditching the scale following her 40-pound weight loss.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 55-year-old Hot in Cleveland actress lost over 40 pounds eight years ago by using the Jenny Craig program. Over the years, she ended up putting back on 15 pounds. However, rather than stressing herself out about it, she decided to ditch the scale and not focus on the numbers.
“It’s always going to be a struggle for me for my entire life,” Bertinelli explained. “I’m going to have up days and down days.”
Valerie’s weight gain can be mostly attributed to her breaking her foot while exercising in 2014. According to Us Weekly, the actress injured her foot, and because she wasn’t able to be as active as she had been, she started noticing the numbers creeping up again.

“I broke my foot three months ago and I’ve not been able to work out,” she said at the time, admitting that she originally felt shame about her increasing weight.
“I have gained a few pounds since I broke my foot and it started to panic me at a certain point, and I thought, ‘No, wait a minute. This is my body. I’m almost 54, I broke my foot. I haven’t been able to move,'” she added. “I started thinking, ‘Why do I feel so much shame? Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can’t wait to get a picture of me looking like I’ve gained a few pounds?’ We have to take the shame out of it! It’s not fair. I think we all need to give each other a break. Especially women — let’s leave each other alone!”
Despite the few extra and unwanted pounds, Valerie isn’t letting that slow her down. She has a new show coming, Valerie’s Home Cooking, scheduled to air on Saturday, August 8 at 12 p.m. on Food Network. Her Hot in Cleveland co-stars will be there to help her kick off the cooking show.

“All I know is that whatever Betty [White] is having, I’ll have some of that,” Bertinelli said.
