Soccer Star Megan Rapinoe Engaged
Megan Rapinoe, the U.S. soccer star, shows no signs of stopping the roll she’s on anytime soon. Rapinoe and her teammates recently won the World Cup — on her birthday, no less — and though that high is for sure still going on, she now has another joy to add to her wonderful list. Rapinoe and her longtime girlfriend, Sera Cahoone, recently announced an engagement to follow up that victory.
Megan came out as being gay in 2012 and has become a very public supporter of the LGBT community. Rapinoe’s successful career has given her the means to actively campaign for the community while always maintaining her professionalism. Rapinoe and fellow teammates of the United States women’s national soccer team took home the win in the World Cup 2015 against Japan as just a simple way to cap off her 30th birthday.
Rapinoe and her girlfriend, singer/songwriter Sera Cahoone, 40, have been dating for about two years and shared an adorable picture to announce their engagement. Captioning the photo, “This little lady’s getting married,” Megan posted the picture of the happy couple sharing a kiss with a gorgeous backdrop via her Instagram page. In the picture, Rapinoe makes the simple gesture of holding up her hand to show the ring while the two smooch.

There was an immediate and widespread show of support from fans, friends, and teammates alike.

The couple have been bringing the cuteness factor for months, sharing multiple pictures all over both their Instagram feeds. Logo sent their well wishes along with a picture of Rapinoe’s team USA fellow teammate Abby Wambach as she kissed her wife, Sarah Huffman, after the World Cup. Meanwhile, ESPN Women confirms that it was Thursday night the post on Rapinoe and Cahoone’s engagement went out, throwing in their congrats to the happy couple on their plans to tie the knot. They’re throwing it out there that a double wedding with another soccer great, Sydney Leroux and spouse Dom Dwyer.
Cahoone also shared the same pic on her own Instagram page, captioning it “This little lady’s getting married too.” Sera Cahoone may not be a household name, but you can listen to her beautiful voice on this YouTube channel. Rapinoe, also known as “Pinoe,” just saw the calm after the storm of the whirlwind championship celebration for the World Cup victory over Japan, but the engagement has set off another frenzy, if only virtually.
We wish only the best for Rapinoe and Cahoone as these two “little ladies” celebrate their engagement and bask in their wholly deserved glow of talent, success, and love.
