Tamara Samsonova: ‘Granny Ripper’ Accused Of Killing Her Victims And Eating Their Bodies
Tamara Samsonova has been dubbed the “Granny Ripper.” The Russian grandmother is suspected of being a serial killer who may have eaten the body parts of her victims. Samsonova, 68, allegedly confessed to horrific murders in her diary.
The Granny Ripper was arrested last week in St. Petersburg. Security camera footage showing Tamara Samsonova hauling what Russian police to be “plastic-wrapped body parts” to a pond near her home prompted the arrest and cannibalism charges. The grandmother allegedly told police in Russia that she cut the female victim found in the plastic with a hacksaw while she was still alive.

The Granny Ripper also allegedly confessed to drugging the victim before taking out the hacksaw. The deceased has reportedly been identified as Valentina Ulanova, 79. The victim was being cared for by Samsonova before her death.
The diary of Tamara Samsonova was reportedly found among books the Russian grandmother kept on astrology and black magic. The Granny Ripper journal contained details pertaining to at least 10 others murders, according to a Daily Mail report. She is believed to have beheaded and dismembered her victims, according to the New York Daily News. The report also stated that the cannibalism crime was like “a real-life version of Hannibal Lecter.”
Samsonova reportedly kept her diaries in Russian, German, and English. The diary murder details have reportedly led the police to consider the crimes ritualistic killings and related to a belief in black magic.

“I killed my tenant Volodya, cut him to pieces in the bathroom with a knife, put the pieces of his body in plastic bags and threw them away in the different parts of Frunzensky district,” one diary entry allegedly stated.
The Russian national police force, the Investigative Committee, has not yet shared the Samsonova diary with the public. A police source told the Daily Mail that the Granny Ripper “had a penchant for lungs.” When asked about the cannibal allegations, a representative from the committee would only stated, “It is not excluded.”
Tamara Samsonova is behind bars while the Russian police investigate the murder references noted in the diary. The husband of the Granny Ripper went missing in 2005, she is now reportedly suspected of that crime as well.
