Katherine Heigl Done At ‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Izzie Never Returning To Show

Katherine Heigl is done for good with Grey’s Anatomy. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, told TVLine that she’s thought about bringing Heigl’s character, Izzie Stevens, back to Seattle and to the now Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but decided against it, stating that she’ll never revisit Izzie’s story line again.

“I’m done with that story. I’ve turned that idea over in my mind a thousand times and thought about how it would go. And I don’t think so.”

This is sad for Grey’s Anatomy fans who loved Izzie Stevens and have been wondering what in the world she has been up to since she left Seattle and her then-husband, Alex, behind. Izzie coming back to the hospital today would create some serious drama.

If Izzie were to return, which sadly seems like it will never happen, Alex’s relationship with girlfriend Jo would definitely be strained. Alex’s relationships have all been messy, but is seems his romance with Jo is the most normal pairing he’s had, especially since Izzie. Her coming back would seemingly mess with Alex’s mind too much.

Of course, Izzie would come back to a hospital she barely knows. Doctors like Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey have died, now doctors have come in to play, Cristine is gone, and, of course, Derek Shepherd has passed away, leaving Meredith a single mother of three and a shell of her former self. There is really nothing in Seattle for Izzie Stevens anymore, but an update on how and what she’s doing wouldn’t be bad. Same with Cristina. We’d love to see how she’s doing and see her interact with Meredith after Derek’s death.

It is a well-known fact that Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes had a falling out after Katherine’s alleged diva-like behavior on the Grey’s Anatomy set, which ultimately led to her dismissal. However, even though Katherine Heigl is done with Grey’s, she still credits the show for helping her career, Hollywood Life reports.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy will be a big change from the former seasons, and fans are dying to know what Meredith will do now that she’s without Derek, as well as how the rest of the characters, such as April and Jackson, will move on after their own losses and issues.
