Kim Richards Skipped Outpatient Rehab Sessions Before Shoplifting Arrest [Report]

Kim Richards was arrested on Sunday after reportedly shoplifting from a Target store in Van Nuys, California. In the weeks leading up to the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s arrest, which led to her spending one night behind bars, she had been in and out of rehab, and now, new details about her sobriety struggles have been revealed.

On August 5, a source told OK! Magazine, via Real Mr. Housewife, Kim Richards had been skipping her outpatient recovery sessions.

“[Kim Richards] hated being in rehab. She didn’t get along with anyone there because she wasn’t open to actually getting help, so the last thing she wants to do right now is any outpatient treatment. And to make matters worse, she’s ignoring and pushing away anyone who might actually challenge her on her sobriety.”

Kim Richards entered a treatment facility in late April, following an arrest for public intoxication earlier that month. However, she stayed in treatment for just a couple of weeks before traveling to Mexico to attend her daughter’s wedding, where she may or may not have relapsed again. Weeks later, she entered at least one more treatment center, the latest of which was a 30-day program. Still, those close to Kim Richards claim she needs much more than 30 days of treatment.

“Someone like [Kim Richards] needs long-term therapy. An illness like alcoholism isn’t cured in 30 days. She has a serious problem, and it needs real attention.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Kim Richards reportedly stole “over $600 of toys” after filing a whopping three carts worth of merchandise, and attempting to empty the contents into her vehicle. Entertainment Tonight confirmed Kim Richards was charged with petty theft in regard to the incident, and is due in court on August 20.

The entertainment series also denied reports of Kim Richards being homeless.

“She rented a home for a few weeks from a friend, and is currently house hunting to find a more permanent residence. She is not broke, not living in a car, and not homeless. She only moved out of her old house because she was renting the house, and the house went up for sale.”

Kim Richards has starred on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for five seasons, but when it comes to the upcoming sixth season of the show, which is currently in production, there have been many claims alleging she’s been fired.
