Will Selena Gomez Become A Mentor On Season 9 Of ‘The Voice’?

Selena Gomez has reportedly been confirmed as one of the new mentors on Season 9 of The Voice, according to multiple sources and media outlets.

According to a report via Us Weekly, Gomez, 23, will be a mentor for Gwen Stefani’s team. This confirmed the rumors that the “Good For You” singer was expected to make an appearance during the new season of the reality singing competition.

The news of Selena Gomez becoming one of the guest mentors on Season 9 of The Voice was also confirmed by the Selena Gomez News Twitter account, along with other media sources.

According to an insider, Selena is surprisingly good as a mentor even though she’s one of the youngest on the show. The insider told Us Weekly that the singer has “exceeded everyone’s expectations.”

While Gomez herself hasn’t confirmed the news, she reportedly is joining alongside co-mentors country singer Brad Paisley, rock legend John Fogerty, and female rapper Missy Elliot, according to the report.

“Selena Gomez will be Gwen Stefani’s mentor. John Fogerty will be Adam Levine’s. Brad Paisley is Blake Shelton’s, and Missy Elliot is Pharell [Williams’].”

This comes after the rumors which claimed that the show’s producers wanted Justin Bieber as one of the sit-down judges. They want to bring in younger viewers so what better way to do it than to have the Biebs as one of the judges.

“This last season of The Voice had its finale be the least rated ever and Mark Burnette has taken notice. He wants to mix it up to get ratings up and get younger viewers to watch the show.”

However, that would mean that one of the current male judges would have to give up his chair so that Justin could fill it. According to the insider, it looks like none of the guys are willing to give up their spots anytime soon.

“Blake and Adam are mainstays and they will not be removed. They have talked about pairing [the group] with Usher but they also would like to see the three guys [Blake, Adam and Justin] interact with a girl.”

Ironically, the Hollywood Life suggested that both Selena and Justin should join the show to increase ratings with their ultimate “Jelena” reunion. It looks like that won’t be happening, much to the dismay of their fans.

NBC announced that Season 9 of The Voice will air on Sept. 21. Meanwhile, Gomez is currently hard at work at her upcoming album, Revival, will is set for release on Oct. 9.

On Monday, Aug. 3, Selena’s “BFF” Taylor Swift released behind-the-scenes footage of the singer who plays the villain in the “Bad Blood” music video. Taylor has been ruthlessly sharing these behind-the-scenes clips as a lead-up to MTV’s VMAs. It’s obvious that the singer wants to win the Video of the Year award at the ceremony.
