Kathy Hilton Tweets Support For Kim Richards, Blasts Dr. Drew As ‘Desperate’ For Commenting On Sis
Kathy Hilton is rooting for her sister, Kim Richards. After the former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was arrested for shoplifting at Target on Sunday, Kathy has retweeted tweets from people declaring their support, well wishes, and love for Kim and her family. She has even publicly called out those whom she believes are capitalizing on Kim’s misfortunes.
On Tuesday, Kathy blasted Dr. Drew Pinsky for commenting on Kim’s situation. She branded him as “desperate” and “unkind.”

Kathy retweeted tweets from people who called Dr. Drew a “whack job,” a person with “zero ethics” and “disgusting.” She even tweeted one tweet that said that Dr. Drew is a drug user himself.

On his Dr. Drew show on HLNtv.com, Dr. Drew speculated that Kim Richards shoplifted because she’s going through opiate withdrawal.
“It’s so sad… On a clinical side, in my experience when women particularly get going with opiates and then try to get off the opiates, they will start to shoplift. I’ve seen this a number of times… not financial although in Kim’s case there’s some question of living in her car, rumors we’re hearing but they need the high, the excitement when they withdrawal… the high of the danger sort of alleviates some of the opiates withdrawal symptoms. I think that’s, I’ve seen it a number of times.”
Kim was arrested Sunday afternoon at a Van Nuys Target after allegedly trying to take merchandise, worth more than $600, without paying. She was booked into a L.A.P.D. jail and released Monday afternoon after posting $5,000 bail. This latest arrest comes about four months after she was arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge after making a scene. She was subsequently charged with battery on an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Shortly after that arrest, she went to rehab. Her stay at a second rehab facility ended just days ago.
Kim’s ex-husband, Monty Brinson, who made a small appearance on Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for their daughter Brooke Brinson’s wedding, told Entertainment Tonight that the arrest must be a mistake.
“I couldn’t imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver. I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol- or drug-related.”
According to a source who spoke to People, Kim Richards doesn’t currently have a stable living situation but is instead “bouncing around” different people’s homes, including Kathy Hilton’s home, and has most of her stuff in storage. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Kim’s former co-star, Brandi Glanville, has denied that Kathy has abandoned her sister. So far, Kim’s other sister, Kyle Richards, has not publicly commented on Kim’s latest drama.
