WWE News: Former WWE NXT Diva Charlotte To Win WWE Diva’s Championship At ‘WWE SummerSlam’?
WWE Diva Charlotte has been on quite a roll since she arrived on the main roster about a month ago after doing quite well on WWE NXT. She is a former WWE NXT Women’s Champion and one of the top female wrestlers in WWE currently. As the daughter of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Charlotte has some big shoes to fill as she progresses in her WWE career. She has done her father proud thus far and it may continue soon.
As we saw this past week on WWE RAW, Charlotte managed to get a pin over WWE Diva’s Champion Nikki Bella. Bella is currently the second longest reigning WWE Diva’s Champion of all time, only behind former WWE Diva AJ Lee who retired earlier this year. AJ’s record stands at 295 days, and within another month, Bella could surpass Lee. The pin over Bella allowed Charlotte to make a claim that she deserves a shot at the Diva’s Title.
Cageside Seats reports that Charlotte will most likely be the first one of the NXT Divas with a shot at the WWE Diva’s Championship. Since WWE SummerSlam is coming up later this month, the only logical thing WWE can do is have these two face off there. The PPV is set to be four hours long this year, which is good news for the WWE Divas as Charlotte and Nikki Bella could be given a good 20 to 30 minute match.
The card currently only has two matches set, one will be revealed on WWE SmackDown this week. The other is of course The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar. We could go ahead and say three are set as Seth Rollins should be facing John Cena at SummerSlam as well. It is simply “not official” as of yet however.
Since Charlotte is someone that WWE wants to get over quick, seeing as she is older than the other NXT girls, it very well could be that she ends Bella’s reign. The idea going into this Diva Revolution was that a change would be coming. The Bellas have to play the heel role in all of this, and with new blood going after them as well as beating them, it makes sense for them to take the Diva’s Championship to really start the revolution.
WWE SummerSlam is arguably the second biggest WWE PPV of the year, behind WrestleMania. WWE always puts a lot into this event. As a result, it would make a lot of sense for Charlotte to win the Diva’s Title there. It has been rumored, but of course, not confirmed that she will do so. We will have to see what WWE does, but it would make a lot of sense, as Bella would be so close to being the longest reigning champion only to lose before she gets there. That would be a huge story that the Bella faction won’t forget for some time. It is also a better story arc to set up than Charlotte flirting with John Cena too much or something.
