Zayn Malik, Perrie Edwards Split: Little Mix Singer Speaks Out, Confirms Engagement Is Off

Perrie Edwards has finally spoken out about her split with Zayn Malik. The Little Mix singer not only confirmed the breakup rumors, but she also responded as to how she’s coping with their very public split.

Perrie Edwards spoke exclusively to E! News about her split from former One Direction singer Zayn Malik. The interview started off when the journalist asked Edwards how she’s doing in light of the scandal.

The “Black Magic” singer politely says with a smile, “I’m good thank you.” Another member of the girl group jumps in and says, “We don’t really want to talk about it.”

It’s obvious that Perrie’s recent split to Zayn still hurts. She got engaged to the heart throb back in August 2013 after they dated for over a year. Perrie and Zayn’s relationship was also haunted by numerous cheating rumors for years.

The most recent cheating scandal was when Malik was seen with a mystery blonde woman in Phuket, Thailand, just days before he left One Direction in the middle of their world tour.

The singer denied the cheating the rumors before he quit the highly-successful British boy band.

In a simple tweet, Malik wrote: “I’m 22 years old…I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world I’m sorry for what it looks like x.”

Zayn also used his age as an excuse for leaving the boy band back in March. He said that he wanted to live his life like “a normal 22-year-old” before it was revealed that Zayn was working on a secret solo project.

As previously reported via the Inquisitr, Edwards is “devastated” over the news of their breakup, but she understand that it’s for the best. The insider told E! News that Edwards and Malik have been broken up for some time now, and that he didn’t treat her as well as he should have.

“Her friends are rallying around her. She’s doing fine. They split a few weeks ago. Her close friends have told her she’s better off without him. He hasn’t treated her right for a long time.”

Another anonymous source told People magazine that the blonde beauty is trying her best to face the world as she goes through a very public breakup.

“She’s been putting on a brave face as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she’s obviously devastated. Perrie’s being supported by her bandmates, but she’s really in pieces about this.”

Meanwhile, another source told Us Weekly that it was Malik’s decision to end his engagement with Edwards. There’s been speculation that he wanted to move on from his relationship like he moved on from One Direction.

The source added, “He just wanted to move on and start over in all ways.”

Perrie Edwards is putting on a new “brave face” as she soaks up the song with her bandmates Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Ann Pinnock, in a new series of Instagram photos.

It’s been a tough few months for One Direction fans. Not only are they mourning the loss of “Zerrie,” but they just found out that Louis Tomlinson’s baby news is actually true.
