Reba And Narvel Blackstock Split: Kelly Clarkson Urges In Laws To Stick It Out

Everyone was shocked to learn that Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock split after 26 years of wedded bliss. Fans of the couple were upset about the split, but no one was more upset than their daughter-in-law, singer Kelly Clarkson.

According to Us magazine, the couple have been living separately for two years, but even so, Clarkson wanted them to stick together and remain committed to each other.

According to a source, Clarkson desperately wanted her in laws to work it out. “Kelly urged them not to split and she’s the reason they didn’t split earlier. She was really fighting for them to make it work and stay together.”

Clarkson is, of course, married to Reba McEntire’s stepson Brandon Blackstock. The two wed in 2013 and have a daughter, River Rose, who they welcomed in June of 2014.

Narvel Blackstock is Reba’s manager-producer, so this split must have taken some considerable amount of thought. The two announced their split via Big Machine Label Group.

“Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so. They have asked that you respect their privacy during this time.”

Clarkson boasted about the wonderful family environment she has with her in laws in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Our family gatherings are just a bunch of grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Our job is very egocentric, so it’s nice to be able to reflect on something else.”

Back during her humble beginnings on American Idol, she named Reba as one of her idols. As the two became closer than ever thanks to her marriage to Brandon, Kelly has always had Reba in her corner. Back in April, Reba defended Kelly’s weight gain and slammed body shamers.

“Get over it. Kelly’s happier than she has ever been in her life. Just be happy for her.”

As for Reba and Narvel, fans are still heartbroken over the couple. Reba hasn’t addressed the split on Twitter. Instead she has focused on sending out professional tweets that are career related rather than personal.
