‘Orange County’ Housewife Meghan King Edmonds Defends Comment About Jim’s Children

Orange County reality star Meghan King Edmonds came under fire on Monday night after claiming she wished her step-children were her own. While chatting with the women of the Real Housewives of Orange County, Edmonds became emotional, and told her co-stars she feels sad that she has no biological children of her own.

On August 3, the Orange County reality star took to her Bravo blog, where she explained her comment to readers.

“When I said I wish I was my step kids’ mom I didn’t mean I wish their moms didn’t exist. I think having a relationship with your mother is one of the most beautiful gifts a child can have and I would NEVER want to replace my step kids’ moms or step on their toes.”

On The Real Housewives of Orange County, a handful of Edmonds’ co-stars were taken aback by her comments, namely Vicki Gunvalson, who felt Edmonds, who married husband Jim just one year ago, should recognize her role as stepparent. Still, Edmonds claims she meant no harm in wishing her children were her own, and further explained why she brought up the matter with her co-stars.

“I was simply trying to stress how much I love my step kids; it’s hard to share the time we have with them, and it’s hard not to be able to make decisions for them like healthcare or school since I feel so strongly involved in their lives.”

In addition, the Orange County resident admitted, “I even refer to the kids’ moms as ‘mom’ or ‘mommy.'”

During the episode, Gunvalson was harsh with her Orange County co-star, as she’s been all season, telling her, “You’ve only been a stepmom for three months. It’s nothing to get upset about, but you won’t know what it’s like until you have your own [children].”

Tamra Barney, meanwhile, claimed she’d feed her ex-husband’s girlfriend to the sharks if she made a comment similar to that of Edmonds.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Edmonds’ husband’s first wife (she is his third), LeAnn Edmonds, passed away after a battle with cancer last month, leaving Edmonds’ stepchildren behind. On Instagram, Haley expressed her heartache in an emotional post about the life of her mother.

“Early this morning I lost the most important person in my life. I’m so blessed to have had these past 17 years with you. But that will never be enough for me,” the 17-year-old wrote.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 10 airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
