‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Cast News — Bryan Singer Teases Storm, Olivia Munn’s Psylocke — James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender Continuing?

The X-Men: Apocalypse cast has been mostly solidified, as Bryan Singer has begun posting images possibly indicating that filming has begun. Though some fans aren’t entirely happy with some cast choices and costumes, Singer is moving forward anyway.

If you’ll remember, while First Class didn’t bring in the box office expected, it did help relaunch the X-Men franchise by offering a younger cast in an effort to “reboot” it after The Last Stand‘s disappointing reception. Days of Future Past even helped “erase” the canon created after the original X-Men to further the cause and give it a second chance.

In casting a younger group of actors and actresses, some familiar faces had to be brought in to play younger versions of the main cast. Following the recasting of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Professor Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto), respectively, the X-Men: Apocalypse cast needed some additional faces to play Jean Grey, Cyclops, Jubilee, and Storm in a younger timeline.

It appears Jubilee was born earlier this time, since she first appeared in a cameo for Bryan Singer’s original X-Men, set 20 years later. Her recasting was confirmed in a teaser photo featuring her and Jean Grey, played by Lana Condor and Sophie Turner.

Alexandra Shipp was given the same treatment, with a green screen set photo of Storm being filmed over a backdrop of Cairo in ruins. In a comical twist, Singer added the backdrop of an actual storm in the background.

It has also been rumored that McAvoy and Fassbender will be returning after Apocalypse, possibly reprising their roles in upcoming solo films. This rumor was started when the Magneto actor hinted that he would be “interested in moving forward as Magneto.”

Jennifer Lawrence had stated something similar, though she announced that Apocalypse would be her last X-Men film. This may mean she might be returning alongside Magneto in future films, but not movies with the word “X-Men” in the title.

Olivia Munn, who plays Psylocke in the upcoming film, has also teased us with video footage of her pulling off some martial arts fighting prowess.

What do you think of Storm’s photo debut, Psylocke’s video debut, and the possibility of some X-Men: Apocalypse cast members returning for solo movies in later years?
