Everybody is looking for the next big thing. Even during an era of great stars and top-notch wrestling, the WWE Universe always wants to look into the future and find out who the next top WWE star will be. In the late 90s, the Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin shared that title. Then, in the mid-2000s, John Cena became the face of WWE.
For nearly a decade, John Cena carried the torch of the WWE, and it’s about time he steps down from the throne. That’s not to say Cena has done a bad job, as WWE’s stock has risen since his inception. However, new stars should be featured. A new “face of the WWE” must be found.
WWE.com posted a poll to their fans and listed six WWE superstars as options to be the next John Cena.
- Dean Ambrose
- Seth Rollins
- Cody Rhodes
- Roman Reigns
- Finn Balor
- Sasha Banks
The last name on the list of future WWE stars is easily the most-compelling. Most people know that Balor, Reigns, Ambrose, and Rollins will dominate the men’s division for years to come. However, never has a woman been considered as the next “face” of the company. On top of today’s WWE having the best women’s division in over a decade, Sasha Banks is on the forefront of a true revolution.
Before the true analysis of Banks takes place, the other five WWE superstars already have been talked about ad nauseam. Despite the fact that Ambrose isn’t being used properly, his future on top is still intact. As for Roman Reigns, he’s becoming the major babyface the WWE’s wanted in years.
That leaves Sasha Banks at the forefront of intrigue and stardom. On WWE NXT, she put rears in the seats and sold out NXT specials. Her opponents have always played the perfect role against her. For someone who’s been wrestling for less than a decade, Banks already looks like a seasoned veteran in the ring.
Is it possible for a woman to be the face of the WWE? There’s no doubt that Sasha Banks can lead the charge into the next era. It certainly helps that Ronda Rousey is the figurehead of the UFC. Rousey is a trendsetter and a revolutionary figure in athletics around the world. Sasha Banks is on her way to becoming that, and more. Can Banks become bigger than Trish Stratus and Lita? They don’t call her “the Boss” for nothing.
