Britney Spears’ conservatorship could last a lifetime. The pop star has been under a conservatorship for over seven years, and it looks like it could remain for the rest of her life.
Spears, 33, has been under a conservatorship since January 2008. Her father, Jamie Spears, requested the legal move when she experienced a breakdown in 2007 and 2008. That was also around the time Spears was under a 5150, also known as an involuntary psychiatric hold, and at the point of losing custody of her children.
According to numerous reports, Jamie saved Britney’s life during a very dark point in her life. In the conservatorship, he will continue to have control over Britney’s financial, legal, and medical decisions. According to a TMZ report, there are two conservatorships; one for Britney herself and one for Britney’s finances.
The extension for Britney’s conservatorship isn’t necessarily a bad thing, according to reports. There are no future plans to end the conservatorship anytime soon since no one has complained about it. Apparently, Britney is fine with being under the conservatorship, and Jamie believes that it’s the best thing for his daughter.
Britney is doing much better these days. Not only has she been making music here and there, but she’s also been performing in her successful Piece Of Me show in Las Vegas. Britney’s residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino has recently added 22 dates, but it’s unclear whether it will continue after New Year’s Eve of this year.
The singer’s comeback albums and residency has put her net worth well into the eight figures. Spears has a net worth of over $41 million, with over $7 million in cash and the remainder in real estate. Spears is not only making music, but she appears to be happier and healthier these days. Although the “Perfume” singer’s dating life hasn’t been perfect, she has remained focused on her two sons, Jayden James, 8, and Sean Preston, 9.
Britney’s conservatorship is bringing huge financial success as well. The conservatorship helped rake in $14 million, and that is just a portion of the legendary icon’s worth. According to an inside source, Britney’s financial situation was a disaster, and it’s finally been corrected.
If the conservatorship were to end anytime soon, then it’s possible that Spears could regress back to her old ways. Keeping her on a lifetime conservatorship would be a good thing for both the entertainer’s well-being and her financial situation.
