Kurt Cobain Image Sold For Cash By Courtney Love

Courtney Love, the singer of the band Hole and widow to Kurt Cobain has made plenty of bad decisions in her life, in fact those decision in 2009 caused her to lose custody of her daughter Frances Bean, now we have learned that one year later she gave up the rights to the Kurt Cobain publicity rights.

According to court documents obtained by The Fix Courtney Love was in desperate need of some cash and borrowed $2.75 million from Frances’ trust fund. Under terms of the loan France Bean at the age of 18 would gain full control over her fathers name until such a time that Courtney Love repays her debt in full to the trust.

What’s more, the publication points out that Courtney Love already doesn’t own the rights to Kurt’s music, that honor goes to Larry Mestel of Primary Wave Music. So when Courtney said the Muppets “raped” the song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and that Disney had no right to use the song, it turns out they did because Mestel signed over those rights for the movie.

In any case it looks like for the time being Courtney Love doesn’t have plans to buy back Kurt Cobain’s image which means the now 19-year-old France Bean is in full control of her dads image. Hopefully Frances can do a better job of protecting the Cobain legacy than her trainwreck of a mother.
