In a tragic incident, a young boy was reportedly found drowned in a bathtub inside his home on Friday evening. According to KHOU News, the boy, reportedly only 7 years old, drowned inside the bathtub of his West Houston home. The news has been confirmed by officials from the Harris County Police Department.
Initial reports say that the Cy-Fair Fire Department first responded to a call from a home located on Regency Villa drive at Birch Vale drive. Upon reaching, they found the boy in the bathroom, unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency services quickly shifted the boy to a hospital where he died later, the Houston Chronicle said.
According to Harris County Homicide detectives, who are investigating the incident, at this time there is no evidence of any foul play. They added that the boy and his father had come back from a swimming session in the evening, only a few hours before the incident. After the duo reached home, the father settled to relax while his son went to the bathroom for a shower. After the father did not hear from the boy for an unusually long time, he went to check if anything was wrong. There, he saw the boy laying unconscious in the bathtub.
Further investigation pending an autopsy would help determine the actual cause of the boy’s death, authorities say.
This is not the first case of children dying inside bathtubs in recent months. Earlier this year, the Inquisitr reported about the tragic case of two Texas toddlers drowned in a bathtub at their home. While one of the toddlers survived, her sibling wasn’t as lucky and passed away at the hospital. Shockingly, there were people at home when the tragedy happened.
In related news, a 40-year-old mother of two from Pennsylvania, identified as Laurel Michelle Schlemmer, was also in the news after she was arrested for drowning her son in the bathtub. She killed her 3-year-old son while an older son, a six-year-old boy, survived. Laurel claimed that “crazy voices” inside of her encouraged her to commit the crime.
