WWE News: WWE Legend ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper Passes Away At Age 61

In the wrestling industry, legends come and go, but they are never forgotten. Just a few months ago, the “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes passed away after a wonderful career and a Hall of Fame life. The WWE will never see anyone again that had the skills Dusty Rhodes possessed. Unfortunately, the WWE has lost another legendary performer.

According to TMZ.com,“Rowdy” Roddy Piper has passed away at the age of 61. TMZ listed a few quick notes on the “Hot Rod.”

“Roddy was admitted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2005 and was one of the top 50 villains in the history of the WWE.

“Roddy had 4 kids — including his son Colton who’s pursuing a career in professional wrestling.”

Since 2012, the WWE has lost Ultimate Warrior, Dusty Rhodes, and now Roddy Piper. Three WWE legends passed way too early, but the WWE has had to endure such tragedy time and time again. As for Piper, he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2005, but last year he was deemed cancer-free.

The report states that Piper died of natural causes. At such a young age, there may have to be more than the story suggests. Piper wasn’t known to be into steroids, which pro wrestling was known for in the 1980s and early 90s. He wasn’t recognized as a man who drank and did drugs daily. Therefore, natural causes seems to be a bit general for a cause of death.

Earlier this week, Piper was seen addressing the Hulk Hogan situation. While he was on camera, there’s no signs of him struggling with his health. That was very different than with the Ultimate Warrior. He returned to WWE Raw two days after his Hall of Fame induction and the Warrior’s health was called into question. Warrior struggled to get to the ring and was very out of breath.

That said, anything can happen on any given day. Roddy Piper was not one of the lucky ones and he will be missed by everyone in the WWE Universe. Here are reactions from the WWE Universe on the passing of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.
