Tom Cruise Banned Questions On Scientology & New Romance On ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’ Tour [Video]

Tom Cruise banned questions about topics ranging from Scientology to his love life as he promotes his newest movie. Although hyping Tom’s film was definitely on the agenda, Cruise’s representatives banned questions on non-Mission Impossible topics, reported Radar Online.

The rule for Tom is simple when it comes to what journalists can ask. Cruise’s banned questions guideline means absolutely nothing that’s personal. That includes the rumored romance with his Katie Holmes look-alike assistant Emily Thomas, his Scientology past, or HBO’s documentary Going Clear.

Regarding that romance report, Cruise’s new crush oddly and eerily resembles Katie Holmes. The 53-year-old actor is dating a 22-year-old production assistant named Emily, who looks as if she’s channeling Katie. However, to put it in reference, the PA and Bella (daughter of Nicole Kidman and Cruise, who was adopted when Nicole and Tom were married) are the same age, as the Inquisitr reported.

But although he kept silent on romance and religion, Tom faithfully did his job of hyping his Mission Impossible film around the world. Although Cruise hit the red carpet for premiere and chatted on both The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, the banned questions rule seemed to be observed, with topics focusing on either the film or upbeat concerns such as working out, reported The Wrap.

However, although Tom did not talk about Scientology on this press tour, a source revealed that Cruise’s banned questions and Scientology silence are noticeable contrasts to his religious discussions in the past.

“Around the third Mission: Impossible, there were journalists who took Scientology orientations just so they could speak intelligently with Tom about it,” said the source.

As for the avoidance of discussing Going Clear, that documentary portrayed Scientology members as often being abused. In particular, both John Travolta and Cruise were seen as being used to recruit new members and improve the visibility of Scientology.

When Going Clear first came out, the focus on Cruise’s involvement in Scientology made many assume that the topic would come up during his hyping of Mission Impossible, reported USA Today.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief is a documentary from Alex Gibney, which stems from Lawrence Wright’s book. And although Tom has, as noted, been more and more silent on the subject of Scientology, Cruise’s involvement as well as the allegations of abuse have become topics for public controversy, along with the fact that the church is tax-exempt.

“There aren’t very many alternatives and law enforcement agencies are stymied,” said journalist Wright. “What’s left is for journalists to call attention to what’s going on and at least inform people. We certainly are singling out some celebrities because they bear a moral responsibility and we’re making certain that they have to recognize that.”
