Tax-exempt purchases on clothing is eligible for $100 or less per item, computers and computer software priced $1,000 or less per item, and school supplies priced $20 or less per item.

When it comes to back-to-school needs, the list includes just about everything: Pencils, erasers, paper, notebooks, binders, pens, pencil sharpeners, markers, rulers, scissors, crayons, watercolors, calculators, and backpacks.

According to Georgia’s official tax-free sales page, umbrellas, eyewear, watches, and watchbands are excluded in the tax-free weekend 2015 in Georgia.

For computers and tech supplies, tax-free purchases include electronic book readers, laptops, desktops, handheld, tablet, and tower computers that consist of a central processing unit, random access memory, and a storage drive. Memory sticks, keyboards, hard drives, mouses, modems, disk drives, printers, routers, scanners, web cameras, car adapters, and cables are also some of the many items eligible for Georgia’s tax-free weekend 2015.

Excluded items in the computer category include batteries, copy machines, digital cameras, surge protectors, projectors, CDs/DVDs, televisions, MP3 players, computer bags, and cases for electronic devices.

WAGT 26 spoke with Tiffany Moyer, who works at the Target in the Augusta Exchange Shopping Center off Robert C. Daniel Jr. Parkway. She explained that the store is prepared for the tax-free weekend 2015 in Georgia.

“We have a small army coming in, in order to keep the shelves stocked. Every single register in our store will be in use in order to keep the traffic going. Families wait all year for back-to-school and they know it’s going to be tax-free weekend and so they are going to get that extra savings.”

Tax-free holidays are good for the economy and give shoppers a break from their state sales tax. They’re ready to spend money on items that they can get good prices on while stocking up on such things as school supplies, clothing, and computer needs.
