Natasha Lyonne Wants You To Support The Iran Deal Rather Than End Up ‘Totally Fried By A Nuclear Bomb Dead’

Orange Is The New Black fans know Natasha Lyonne as Nicky Nichols. There has been much speculation about Nichols fate in season 3 of OITNB, but Natasha Lyonne is keeping quiet about what might happen to her character in season 4, having much sympathy with another TV show where the fate of a character is open for speculation, Game of Thrones.

“I feel a great deal of solidarity with the cast of Game of Thrones,” Lyonne told the Summer TCA press tour panel recently.

However, one thing Natasha Lyonne will not keep quiet about is her passion in supporting the current Iran nuclear agreement reached earlier this month. According to MSNBC, this deal will “prevent the country from developing a bomb for at least a decade and allow for inspections of Iran’s facilities in exchange for sanctions relief.”

Natasha Lyonne joins Jack Black, Morgan Freeman, Farshad Farahat, ex-CIA agent Valerie Plame, Queen Noor of Jordan, and retired U.S. Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering in the following YouTube video produced by Global Zero. All of them show their support for the Iran deal and urge viewers to make sure this bill gets passed through congress.

While the video starring Natasha Lyonne is quite humorous, the underlying message is very serious; get behind this deal or suffer the consequences of Iran potentially developing nuclear weapons unsanctioned. Natasha Lyonne and the other stars let the viewers know the things they enjoy, throwing a Frisbee with their kids, walking along the beach at sunset, reading a good book could be a thing of the past if the Iran deal is blocked. All those life comforts will be gone if nuclear war were to hit. In other words, death will replace them.

Or, as Morgan Freeman describes it, “super dead.” Natasha Lyonne expands on that and lets viewers know the comforts of life would be off the table if congress blocks the Iran deal because we would all be “totally fried by a nuclear bomb dead.”

But is congress blocking the Iran deal really as dire as Morgan Freeman and Natasha Lyonne say? According to Fortune, there are concerns from “most Republicans, some Democrats and Israeli leaders” that the Iran deal will enable a “terror-supporting regime to become a nuclear power and setting off a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.” Sharon Squassoni, a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) member with a national security master’s from the National War College also thinks this could occur if the Iran deal is passed. But, she does agree the deal will make it much harder for nuclear weapons to be developed. In a nutshell, this deal is much more complicated that the video starring Morgan Freeman and Natasha Lyonne admit to.
