Olivia Culpo ‘Treats!’ Magazine Nude Photos: Nick Jonas’ Ex Is ‘Stunning’

Oliva Culpo’s Treats! magazine nude photo shoot was a first for the 23-year-old former Miss Universe, and it was the result of some intense thinking.

Culpo wasn’t sure about going naked for Treats!, but when she looked around at how “many people today strive for perfection, covering up who they really are,” she felt inspired to make a statement. “I have been guilty of this too, but for this shoot I couldn’t hide,” Culpo told Treats! “This was as real and raw as it gets.”

The idea of nudity was anxiety producing at first, but when Olivia found she would be working with renowned photographer Tony Duran, she felt confident about the nudity. Culpo said she had a chance to examine some of Duran’s previous work, and saw “beauty and sensuality,” rather than nude bodies. She added that the the Treats! magazine photos felt more like paintings, playing with “timeless” colors and lighting in the composition and quality of the images. In the Culpo Treats! interview that accompanied the photos, Olivia talked about her insecurities and strengths.

“It was about me. Where my head is at as a person… as a woman. What are my insecurities… what are my strengths. I had never done a nude shoot before, but it really wasn’t about that. This shoot was more about letting myself go emotionally.”

Culpa tweeted about her fear of doing the Treats! shoot.

Hollywood Life described the nude photos as “glistening and gorgeous,” and congratulated Olivia on the way she “stuck to her principles,” by waiting until she felt comfortable with the decision. Culpo said that although she’d never done a nude shoot until the Treats! spread, she’d been asked to on several occasions and was worried about “how it would be perceived.”

“Once I realized this was an opportunity to express myself in a way I hadn’t before, in such an organic and candid sense, the experience became more about art and emotion than me as a physical being.”

Some fans were more interested in the nudity than in the art, and called the Treats! spread of Culpo a treat in itself.

Tony Duran prefers to work without using makeup on his subjects, and this increased the sense of honesty in the shoot because Culpo had nothing to hide behind. Olivia said it was about “letting go emotionally,” and “really putting [herself] out there,” an experience she found liberating.

“There is a sense of empowerment that I got from the shoot that is hard to explain.”

Culpo, whose relationship with Nick Jonas recently ended, explained that she wants to explore non mainstream modelling opportunities that emphasize the art of modelling.
