Microsoft Cancels Inside Xbox in US, Canada

Microsoft dropped a bit of sad news today for those of you who have been keeping up with Inside Xbox: after several years of operation, Inside Xbox will be shut down for good, meaning no more Major’s Minute, Featured Videos or Insider Moves.

In case you never checked out the Inside Xbox section of your Xbox 360 dashboard–and from my understanding, not a lot of people did–the videos offered up tips for new releases, such as how to grab a few achievements, as well as videos that showed off new and upcoming games.

“We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our viewers and fans of Inside Xbox, and remain committed to providing our members with access to high-quality news and information via the console, social media channels and Xbox.com,” he said on his blog.

“We will be leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners, and supplementing this content with select first-party offerings. However, day-to-day news content and weekly programming currently offered though Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States. This includes shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand.”

It should be noted that this change only impacts the US, Canada, Australlia and New Zealand–Mexico and Japan will continue as normal. Microsoft says it is currently “looking at its operating model” for Inside Xbox in its Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, which suggests that we could see some changes in the Inside Xbox brand, if not a complete scrapping, in those regions as well (via Joystiq).

Are you disappointed that Inside Xbox is going away, or were you never interested in it to begin with?
