Custody Battle Update: Jenelle Evans Isn’t Ready To Regain Custody Of Jace?

The custody battle over Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans’ son, Jace, may not make any progress during its upcoming hearing. According to a Radar Online on July 28, Evans’ upcoming custody battle hearing has been scheduled for August 4, but a source close to the reality star claims she’s “holding the process up.”

“Jenelle has been saying that she wants to get custody of Jace back for years, and now she’s really going to have the opportunity to do so, but she has to actually go ahead and get it done and she just hasn’t so far.”

While Evans’ mother, Barbara, has had custody of her 5-year-old since shortly after his birth, Evans initiated a custody battle against her mother after she got her life in order. As fans of the Teen Mom 2 star have seen on the show and in the press, Evans currently has her own home, another child and recently graduated from Miller Motte College.

By most accounts, now would seem like the best time for Evans to embark on her custody battle for Jace, but sadly, the source made it seem as if she’s still not completely ready for the responsibility. Instead, the source claimed, she appeared more focused on her ongoing relationship drama with fiance Nathan Griffith.

During last week’s episode of Teen Mom 2, Evans was scheduled to meet with her lawyer in regard to the custody battle, but instead engaged in a screaming match with Griffith.

“Jenelle does want Jace back, but the process is always held up by something. Either she is dealing with Nathan, or just can’t get it together… This is a hearing that will most likely just be continued. So nothing really could happen.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Evans opened up about her decision for a custody battle earlier this month. Speaking to OK! Magazine, Evans recalled an incident in which she wanted more time with her son, and explained the legal side of things.

“Back around Christmas time, [Barbara Evans] was just… Me and Nathan, we were kind of arguing a lot, but she was still keeping Jace away from me even if I was like, ‘Well, what if I don’t have Nathan there?’

The custody order that’s in place basically says, ‘Whatever [Barbara Evans] says goes.’ And I want something set in stone to where it says, ‘Jenelle gets him these days.’ So that she has to follow by the guidelines.”
