‘Taken’ Note Goes Viral After Dad Threatens Kids For Not Cleaning Sink

What one dad did to get his kids to clean their sink is getting a lot of buzz on the Internet. The Taken note went viral after it was posted to Reddit a couple of weeks ago.

The post was titled, “My kids refuse to put their dishes in the dishwasher, so I put this above the sink.” Innocent enough, but the response has been unexpected and many are praising the inventive dad.

Anyone who has kids at home in the summer months can relate to the frustration of them not picking up after themselves or helping with everyday chores, such as putting their dishes away after a meal. When this dad had it, he came up with an idea. To write a Taken note, featuring the movie’s star, Liam Neeson.

The clever Taken note by Indiana’ resident Shane Labuzan was taken — no pun intended — straight out of the 2008 blockbuster.

“I don’t know who you are.”

“I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for a maid to clean up after you, I can tell you, I don’t do that.”

“But what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long lifetime. Skills that make me an expert in home WiFi systems and Cellular Data plans.”

“If you clean up your own kitchen mess, that’ll be the end of it.”

“I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.”

“But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you…”

AND I WILL DISCONNECT YOU.”

'Taken' note goes viral

Labuzan’s Taken note made the national news, and he told the Today show he expected Liam Neeson to watch his kids when he wasn’t around.

“Every time they might be tempted to just leave a mess in the sink for me to clean up later, they would have to look him in the eyes and question their next move,” the frustrated dad said. He added all the kids had their electronic devices taken away for a time for laughing at his note and disregarding it, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Labuzan believes his Taken note has had the intended effect and “98 percent of the time, my kitchen sink is spotless, which it wasn’t before the note.”

ABC spoke with the man’s daughter, and she is not as amused at her dad’s sudden fame, and why everyone is making such a big deal about it.

“His ego is just going off the charts. I’m just confused by why everyone thinks he’s funny,” she said of the now viral Taken note.
