‘Sons of Anarchy’ New iOS Game Impresses Fans, Kurt Sutter Says It ‘Represents The Evolution Of Gaming’

Sons of Anarchy‘s new iOS game has impressed fans from the start.

After Sons of Anarchy‘s final season aired in late 2014, fans have been holding out for the promised Sons of Anarchy prequel, purportedly starring Brad Pitt. And while it seems the Sons of Anarchy prequel will take more time than first expected to come to fruition, there is another reason, albeit more minor, for Sons of Anarchy fans to celebrate in the meantime.

The new Sons of Anarchy iOS game, The Prospect, was released recently to a positive reception among gamers and fans alike. Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter spoke to Entertainment Weekly about The Prospect just days before its launch.

“It’s finally f**king here. It’s awesome. Play it. Live it. Be the prospect… I love the idea of being a prospect. We’ve had prospects on the show, and we’ve seen their interactions and the choices they’ve made — but we’ve never really lived the life as a prospect. It’s a whole different experience.”

Developed by Silverback games in collaboration with Kurt Sutter and his writing team, The Prospect follows the original story of Clint Lancet, a young man trying to avoid the outlaw lifestyle in Lincoln, Oregon, home to a Sons of Anarchy motorcycle club (SAMLIN). As reported by AppAdvice, the environs of the game version differ heavily from the FX drama series.

“There’s nothing ‘Charming’ about Lincoln, a decaying town on the precipice of economic collapse. Clint’s future is in your hands as you guide his actions and decisions within the dark and disturbing world of SAMLIN.”

Episodic in nature, the game is played through a first-person narrative, and flooded with tongue-and-cheek references to Sons of Anarchy. You ride your Harley Davidson on Lincoln’s dark highways, engage in fist-fights and shootings, and even smoke when things do not seem to go your way. A pretty nasty affair, it must be said, but according to fans, equally thrilling in all respects.

Destructoid gave The Prospect a thumbs up rating.

“‘The Prospect’ kicks things off with an interesting flash forward, giving the player character a choice to execute someone else with a bag over their head. Who is this hooded person? Are you even in control of the ‘main’ character, or are you in the hood, and are you deciding to pull the trigger on yourself? It’s a neat method of storytelling and likely won’t be explored until the finale.”
