Mariah Carey Finally Receives Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Why Only Now?
Mariah Carey will finally be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But why only now?
According to Rap Up, Carey was supposed to get her star in 2007, but because of conflicting schedules, she wasn’t able to do so. Now, eight years later, Mariah Carey has the time to receive and unveil her Walk of Fame Star.
The news was confirmed by the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies, Ana Martinez, through a tweet.

The tweet caused a frenzy on Twitter, and many are shocked to hear that Mariah Carey is only getting a star now.
User Willie G. Buckshot wrote, “I thought she would’ve had a star years ago… This is long overdue!”
Another user, That awkward guy, wrote, “she’s just now getting a star????”
Martinez cleared the air by answering the tweets by saying that Mariah was selected to receive the star back in 2007 and is only “now able to do the ceremony.” Yet another question was asked regarding Mariah’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
“Shouldn’t there b a statute of limitations??!!” wrote Jen Lust-Wahlberg. Martinez said that back then, it was five years, and now it is two years upon being selected.
It is not surprising why many people are asking about why Mariah is only getting a star now. After all, she is one of the most successful artists in the music industry, with millions of albums sold, several awards won, and 18 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Aside from answering tweets, Martinez also gave an official statement announcing Mariah Carey’s star on the Walk of Fame.
“Finally, all questions regarding when Mariah Carey will be honored with a star are answered! Fans have repeatedly asked us when their favorite singer would be honored, and now is the time. We are thrilled that we can add one of the world’s biggest talents to our Walk of Fame.”
Guest speakers expected to be at Mariah Carey’s Hall of Fame ceremony include L.A. Reid, Brett Ratner, and Lee Daniels, the Washington Times reports. The event will be held on August 5, and Mariah Carey will be receiving the 2,556th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
