YouTube And Google+ Split Up, Causing Vital Changes To User Accounts

YouTube is among the first big services to move away from Google+. YouTube announced that comments made on any of their pages will no longer show up on Google+ profiles.

However, creating a YouTube channel, commenting, or uploading videos without a Google+ account will gradually take place within the next few months, the company reports.

YouTube cautions its users, making it very clear about the following warning.

It is critical that users do not remove their Google+ profiles before that day comes. If a user removes their Google+ profile from their YouTube account it will eradicate his or her entire YouTube presence.

On Monday, YouTube posted the following statement on their official blog.

“If you want to remove your Google+ profile, you’ll be able to do this in the coming months, but do not do it now or you’ll delete your YouTube channel (no bueno).”

The new changes, some of them taking place today, will affect YouTube in a variety of ways. They have been working on making conversations easier and simpler.

The following statement made by YouTube explains more.

“With today’s announcement from Google+, you’ll see more changes. The comments you make on YouTube will now appear only on YouTube, not also on Google+. And vice-versa. This starts rolling out today.”

With respect to moderation options, the video-sharing website clarifies what they are doing.

“Creators told us they liked the moderation options on their channels, like reviewing comments before they’re posted, blocking certain words, or auto-approving comments from certain fans. All this stays.”

The Verge posted comments made by Google’s Bradley Horowitz, who wrote about the new changes.

“We’re well underway putting location sharing into Hangouts and other apps, where it really belongs. We think changes like these will lead to a more focused, more useful, more engaging Google+.”

Horowitz added more about the modification to Google accounts and profiles.

“Your underlying Google Account won’t be searchable or followable, unlike public Google+ profiles. And for people who already created Google+ profiles but don’t plan to use Google+ itself, we’ll offer better options for managing and removing those public profiles.”

Google insists that Google+ is not going away. They will continue to provide an “interest-based social experience” for users who are actively involved in its communities.

A post from Google’s official blog says changes will take place in the next few months.

“In the coming months, a Google Account will be all you’ll need to share content, communicate with contacts, and create a YouTube channel and more, all across Google.”

YouTube is one of the first products to make the recent change.
