Since 2NE1 took a break so its members could concentrate on their solo careers, Sandara Park (known in the K-pop group as Dara) has pursued an acting career in K-dramas and K-movies. Even though she's never had any major roles on a show produced by a major network like Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) or Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), she's made numerous appearances. As a matter of fact, Park is known to appear in K-dramas Kim Soo Hyun starred in, which in turn sparked rumors the two of them are dating.

Now after all this time, Sandara Park will finally get to test her acting abilities. Reports show the K-pop idol turned actress has landed the lead role in an upcoming K-movie adaption of independent movie, Begin Again.

According to KdramaStars, the initial news of Sandara Park's lead role was revealed through an anonymous source to the Korean media outlet, HeraldPOP. As mentioned earlier, Begin Again will be a K-movie adaption of an independent film. The original, which starred Mark Ruffalo and Kiera Knightly, did so well it became the most-watched independent film of all time in South Korean theaters.

This is, of course, one of the reasons why a K-movie adaption was planned. In it, Sandara Park will play a songwriter who works part time at a convenience store. While she sleeps, she dreams of a melody. Once she wakes, she tries to capture it through songwriting, but fails. It will be the male lead, a broadcasting director, who will help Sandara Park's character capture that melody and realize her songwriting dream.

Even though this is Sandara Park's first lead role in a K-movie, she's been in a lead role once before, as reported by Yahoo! Celebrity Philippines. Park acted in Dr. Ian, a web series starring her and Kang Seung Yoon. They play a college campus couple whom broke up. However, they have to still share the same house. Over the course of 10 episodes, they come to question why they broke up in the first place. Anyways, Park received a favorable response from viewers for her role. They say Park absolutely reflected her character's feelings.

As of now, there is no news on when the K-drama adaption of Begin Again will start production. As a matter of fact, they still need to find an actor for the male lead. This, however, may benefit Sandara Park since she might reunite with 2NE1 soon.
