Olympian Shawn Johnson Gets Engaged At Wrigley Field: Must See! [Video]

Shawn Johnson, the 2008 Olympic gold medal winning gymnast, is engaged to NFL player Andrew East. Johnson also won Dancing with the Stars Season 8.

Shawn Johnson was invited to throw out the game’s first pitch at the famous Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Friday when she got the surprise of a lifetime. Although the rest of the world knew about the event quickly, since the Cubs posted a video of the pre-game festivities on their Instagram, East surprised Shawn by getting down on one knee on the field and popping the question, reports Entertainment Weekly. A shocked Johnson said “Yes!”before jumping into East’s arms, with the crowd cheering behind her.

Shawn, very excited at the proposal, shared the proposal moment on Instagram, captioning the video, “Well I know it’s not a secret…. But I experienced the greatest surprise a girl could ever ask for today…. The love of my life @andrewdeast asked me to be his forever AND I SAID YES!!!!!!#isaidyes #weregettingmarried #holycow.”

East, who is a snapper for the Kansas City Chiefs, according to People magazine, also shared a photo on his Instagram account, letting the world know that Shawn is the one for him. “I’m a lucky guy to put a ring on this girls finger! I love you @shawnjohnson.” Video of the happy moment was shared on the Cub’s Instagram page.

Shawn Johnson rose to fame as part of the United States’ women’s gymnastics team that competed at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing. Shawn won the gold medal for balance beam, as well as silver medals for floor exercise, individual all-around, and team all-around competitions, reports Entertainment Weekly.

After winning a gold medal at the Olympics, Shawn Johnson shifted her attention to television where she competed on and won Season 8 of Dancing with the Stars in 2009. Johnson returned for the show’s all star season in 2012, where she placed second.

Shawn Johnson and her soon to be hubby attended the baseball game with Team USA gymnast, Alicia Quinn, who was throwing the first pitch along with Johnson, reports People. Quinn congratulated Shawn on her Instagram account, posting a collage of pictures that she captioned,”Pretty eventful day–throwing out the first pitch, walking on out hands…and @shawnjohnson getting engaged to our boy @Andrewdeast #casual #nbd #happytears.” There’s no word yet about the date of the wedding.
