That Awkward Moment When Norman Reedus Messes With ‘The Walking Dead’ Fan Base Over A Season 6 Death

WARNING: Potential spoilers for comic book and TV fans of The Walking Dead could be contained within this article. Please proceed with caution.

While the dust has mostly settled from this year’s San Diego Comic Con, there are still a few little nuggets of pure gold floating around the internet undiscovered. For fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead, most of these nuggets involve things that Norman Reedus (who plays fan favorite, Daryl Dixon) said since the usual suspect, Robert Kirkman, was absent due to surgery.

Take the latest video interview to emerge from MTV. In it, MTV asked the cast of The Walking Dead which characters they would like to see return from the dead (in a character revival sort of way, not in an undead walker kind of way). Mostly, the actors take the question seriously.

Both Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and director and special effects make up artist, Greg Nicotero would like to see Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) return to The Walking Dead. According to the both of them, there was plenty of “uncharted territory” involving the love triangle between her, Rick, and Shane (Jon Bernthal). While she wasn’t a fan favorite, it still would have potentially been a goldmine of story arcs if Lori had survived the birth of Judith in The Walking Dead.

Speaking of Shane, Sonequa Martin-Green would have loved for this character to survive longer in The Walking Dead. Being a fan of the show before she joined the cast (as Sasha), she wasn’t a fan of the character per se, but she did enjoy the way Bernthal interpreted the character.

Another Walking Dead fan favorite, Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee) couldn’t pick his favorite character to return. For him and for his character, Glenn, he would have liked to see both Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) and Hershel (Scott Wilson) reprised. According to Yeun, both of these characters would have imparted a world’s worth of knowledge to Glenn. Dale, while he was travelling in the RV with Glenn, and Hershel as Glenn and Maggie forged their relationship in the prison.

But what was Norman Reedus’s response to who he would like to bring back to The Walking Dead?

Glenn.

He would like to see Glenn Rhee return from the dead.

Now, for fans of The Walking Dead comics, we know Glenn dies at the hands of Negan. If the Wolves and Negan are somehow connected, then there is the potential for Glenn to die in season 6 of The Walking Dead. So could Glenn be dead already and Reedus is lamenting the fact Yeun is no longer on set?

Or, is Norman Reedus just messing with the fan base?

“Glenn’s not dead on the show, he’s still alive,” Greg Nicotero points out. Perhaps a quick cover up? Andrew Lincoln seems a little surprised during Norman’s potential gaffe according an article for Moviepilot. The cast then seems to act quickly like it is a joke, yet they look a little nervous as well.
