Football fans can get their fix of the fast-paced Canadian brand of the game Friday night, when they watch a matchup of two of the top CFL teams live online — the Toronto Argonauts, who lead the CFL’s East Division with a 2-1 mark, and the B.C. Lions, whose identical win-loss record puts them at second place in the West.

The Lions have been very comfortable in the friendly confines of B.C. Place since they resumed playing home games there in 2011, when extensive renovations to the ultra-modern 54,500-seat facility were finished.

The Lions won a Grey Cup in 2011 and went on a 22-3 run at home after they returned to B.C. Place in mid-2011. But last year, they somehow lost that home mojo. Their 9-9 season included only four home wins.

But the Lions won their opening home game this year, and with the road-tripping Argonauts — who have been exiled from their own home stadium due to the Pan-Am Games — in town Friday, they plan to work on rebuilding their home-field advantage.

“You want to create that dominance at B.C. Place,” Lions running back Andrew Harris told Canada’s SportsNet. “We want teams to have fear. That was kind of lost last year.”

One big advantage held by the Lions is 31-year-old, eighth-year quarterback Travis Lulay, a two-time CFL All-Star who was also the 2011 Grey Cup MVP. Lulay, after a false start last year when he came back too soon from shoulder surgery, now appears fully healthy, and comes into the game with a nearly invincible 18-1 mark in Lions home games.

Toronto signal-caller Trevor Harris also remains hot, with a 74.7 pass completion rate over the Argonauts’ first three games. And coming off a bye week, Harris and the Argos should be rested and ready for the Friday night matchup.
