Possible Rape Victim Found Naked At Downtown Disney At Walt Disney World – Police Investigating, Looking For Suspect
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating a possible rape and sexual battery case after a woman was found naked and disoriented at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World. The yet-unidentified female victim was found around 5 a.m. last Thursday, and she could not remember much about the previous night.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the woman could not remember anything from the night before but dancing in the entertainment area known as Downtown Disney and Disney’s West Side. She was found in bushes behind the House of Blues, per the police report.
“She remembers being at the House of Blues and dancing, but not leaving. The victim said she currently has no memory of who might have taken advantage of her [and] left her naked and helpless in the shrubbery.”
The woman and at least one friend were at her apartment in Central Florida on Wednesday night, and had been drinking. She remembers drinking two bottles of ale and seven or “eight shots of vodka” before catching a ride to Downtown Disney.
WESH reported that the Sheriff’s Office waited until Wednesday to release a public report of the rape at Downtown Disney. They were working the case and ended up turning to the public for help in solving it, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Jane Watrel.
“Our detectives worked this case vigorously until they felt they needed the public’s help. Sometimes they want to hold things close to the vest so they can proceed with the investigation.”
Three surveillance photos have been released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and they show a man who is being seeing as a possible suspect in the Downtown Disney rape case. They are asking for anyone who recognizes the man to contact them with info.
Disney security officers ended up finding the woman the next morning and said she was “disoriented.” She was found in some bushes behind the House of Blues and Cirque du Soleil. Her purse, clothing, and a used condom were all near where she was lying in the bushes.
A Disney security supervisor named Jimilyn Palmier took off her security vest and gave it to the female victim so she could wrap it around herself. Reedy Creek Fire Department was then called to have paramedics sent out.
Police did interview the woman’s friend about the incident, but have released no further info regarding the case. There is no record on whether or not the female victim was treated at a hospital.
The rape investigation at Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World is one that the police are currently investigating and hoping to find more info on soon. Due to the ongoing investigation, police are respecting the privacy of the victim by not releasing her name.
